Welcome to Italy! Your Tour Leader will meet you at the hotel in Milan. There you’ll meet also your travel mates who will join you in this unforgettable tour around Italy.
Let’s have a coffee together, just to know each other!
First we will head north for Lake Como. Lago di Como is Italy's most popular lake and also its deepest. It is shaped like an inverted Y, giving it a long perimeter, and is surrounded by mountains and hills and dotted with beautiful and resort villages. We will cross the river and arrive at Tremezzo where we’ll visit one of the most popular villas, Villa Carlotta. It was built in the 17th century for a powerful Milanese family and  in the second half of the 19th century Princess Marianne of Nassau bought the villa and gave it to her daughter Carlotta as a wedding present, hence the name. Her husband was a keen botanist and over the years turned it into the lush garden that we see here today. After that we will reach Bellagio by boat, where we can relax and enjoy the lakeside ambiance. We‘ll also visit the park of Villa Melzi, built in 1808, with sculptures and garden renowned for its beautiful azaleas and rhododendrons. We will have time to relax and stroll through the walking paths along the lake.

Day 2 - TURIN

Today we are in Torino, the first capital of Italy! We will admire its baroque heart , its beautiful squares and palaces,  the mysticism of its churches,  the Mole Antonelliana with the National Cinema Museum, the Royal Palace, the unique heart of the Savoy dynasty with its monumental  apartments. At night we’ll have dinner at Eataly, the first location of this genre. Eataly was founded in January 2007 when Oscar Farinetti, an entrepreneur formerly involved in the consumer electronics business, converted a closed vermouth factory in Turin into the first location of Eataly, a combined high quality supermarket for italian food and restaurant boasting regional dishes and specialities.

Day 3 – LANGHE

You will be startled by the beauty of Piedmont, the region where the landscape changes colours according to the rhythm of the seasons! For its outstanding landscapes the area of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato has been recently recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During the day we will go up and down the Langhe hills among castles and vineyards, and we will reach one of the Italian historical wine estate for the visit of the ancient cellar with hundreds of barrels, casks and barriques. We will visit WIMU, Italy’s most innovative wine museum, as well as one of the world’s most important. It is set in the halls and rooms of a castle with a thousand-year history. At the end you will have a superb wine tasting of Barolo and Barbaresco Wine.
And what about food? Let’s taste “tagliatelle”, locally called “tagliolini” or “tajarin”, served with meat ragout, sausage ragout or, according to the season, melted butter and grated truffle. Then, try veal meat in any version, especially brasati, cooked in Barolo wine. The typical dish par excellence is bagna cauda, a social dish, a garlic, anchovy and olive oil sauce into which seasonal raw vegetables are dipped. Hazelnut cake, soft and served with a good glass of Moscato d’Asti, is the traditional ending to every lunch and dinner!
The sea is waiting for us! We’ll reach Santa Margherita Ligure on the Ligurian Sea where we will spend the night.

We will go by boat to Portofino, a jewel set in the lush greenery of the Promontory of Portofino Natural Park, and San Fruttuoso, a small fishing village located in a splendid bay at the foot of Mount Portofino, reachable only by sea or on foot, following the trails of Portofino Park. The extraordinary spot is dominated by the Abbey of San Fruttuoso di Capodimonte. This splendid monument, now part of the heritage of FAI - the Italian Environment Found - has extremely old origins, dating back to the 8th century. An underwater statue of Christ, known as the Christ of the Depths, protector of divers, stands at the bottom of the Bay. We will also have free time for a bath or sunbathing on the beach!

Day 5 - MILAN

Today we will reach Milano. Milan is the Fashion Capital of Italy, so it shouldn’t be surprising that there is some great shopping to be done in this city! We will stroll down the streets of the Quadrilatero D’Oro, admiring the shop windows of Prada, Armani, Verace, Ferragamo, Dolce & Gabbana and Valentino.
A must-see is the Duomo. It’s one of the biggest churches in the world, a fact which may surprise you when you stand outside it – the Duomo sits on the grand Piazza del Duomo, and beside the immense and beautiful Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, so it doesn’t actually look as massive on the outside as it feels once you get inside. We can also take an elevator up and walk around on the cathedral’s roof!
Tonight will be your last night in Italy! We will have  our farewell dinner in a typical Milanese restaurant in the Navigli.
Arrivederci with another tour at the discovery of Italy with VITOR.
